http://www.capegazette.com/storiescurrent/20100716-31/16003-geese.html Plesae read this. This town is about 15 minutes away from me and I add there is a national wildlife refuge less than 10 miles away from this town. Kinda pisses me off. :33

We have a real resident goose situation down here in Va. We always erge the state to allow the hunters help control these so call problems. We do manage to help quite a bit "in huntable areas". BUT....... we do also have that same sort of thing happen on ocassion. Also, another practice of egg oiling is sometimes used to help control the pops.I hate that too!
Good luck, all I can do is to recommend that the hunters continue to make their feeling known, most officials will listen to a single "strong "voice. We the hunters need to stand together on just this type of thing.

Aren't the geese federally managed?. Or is it once they stop migrating the state can do what they want? I understand control, but really think relocation woulda been the right thing :31

They have tried relocating the geese...it did not work. Did you see the piece where they are relocating the turtles on the gulf...... They said, because of the smell of the sand on the gulf, the turtles would come back to that exact location on the beach they were born in. So they not only moved the egg,but the sand the were layed in....pretty wild stuff. Same with the resident geese. If the geese were born down at your pond...... they will always come back to your pond. It's nature in action. I guess, like you said, when the geese stop migration, it becomes the states problem and the Feds give them some leave way. We here in Va. (as hunters) kill about 150,000-200,000 geese per year.... which is about half our pop...I'm sure they are not all residents or migrators...they are thenumbers they throw out at us :crazy

I know the state sees it as a problem....but from where I sit :party
